Day 01 Kathmandu (1310m): Our airport representative will meet you at the airport and transfer to Hotel. It is 7km and takes about 20 minutes. Our tour leader will brief the group about the trip during the pre-departure meeting. This will be held in the Hotel or our office in Thamel. The briefing will cover according by the itinerary. PPT’s to be collected for Tibet Visas, Return flight tickets for reconfirmation, Copy of Travel insurance to be collected, 2 each Passport Size photos to be collected.
Day 02 Kathmandu. Breakfast, Half Day City Tour Syambhunath, Pashupatinath, Buddhanath. We will Obtain Tibet Visas and Travel Permits. Overnight at Hotel, KTM
Day 03 FLY KATHMANDU [1310m] LHASA [3660m]: In the morning we will meet & transfer to the Kathmandu airport for the spectacular hour long flight to Lhasa. A China Southwest Airlines Boeing will fly us over much of the magnificent Himalayan range providing us with mountain views the entire way. Once landed at Gongar airport our Tibetan guide will meet you. We must travel two to 2 & half hours (90 km) by Land cruisers to reach the actual city of Lhasa. Day 04 IN LHASA: On this second day a guide will lead you through several of Lhasa’s many monasteries. The first one we will visit is Sera Monastery, a fifteenth century sprawl of golden roofs and whitewashed walls. This well preserved monastery is located just a few miles North of Lhasa and is home to several hundred monks. In the afternoon we will visit the summer palace of the Dalai Lama, Norbulingka, as well as the Jokhang Temple. This temple is the most revered shrine in all of Tibet and is constantly bustling with devout worshippers. We will also be given the opportunity to shop in Barkor, the crowded central market of Lhasa.
Day 05 IN LHASA: A trip to Tibet would not be complete without experiencing the vital Potala Palace. This palace is Lhasa's cardinal landmark and is a wonder of Eastern architecture. Your first sight of this massive structure will be a magical moment remembered for years to come. It has been a palace since the fifth or sixth century and was once home to the Dalai Lama. This truly amazing day will ended with a visit to the Drepung Monastery. Once the world’s largest monastery, housing 10,000 monks, Drepung monastery lies hidden in rocky ridges just beyond the city. Surprisingly much of the building was left untouched throughout the Cultural Revolution.
Day 06 DRIVE LHASA - GYANTSE [3950m] 261 km: The breathtaking view at Khamba La allows one to see all the way to the summit of Nazin Kang Sa. Truly an amazing view! While continuing westward we will travel over the Karo La, a high pass surrounded by stupendous glaciers. The rest of the day will be spent enjoying the many magnificent valleys and exquisite Tibetan villages we pass through. The day will end in the town of Gyantse. We will spend the night in a hotel in this historical city. O/N Holy Lake hotel (**) or Gyantse Hotel (**) or similar.
Day 07 DRIVE GYANTSE [3950m] - SHIGATSE [3900m] 90km: First thing in the morning we will visit Gyantse Dzong. This fort dates back to the fourteenth century and offers some of the most amazing views of Gyantse and the surrounding valley. Before leaving we will also visit the famed Gyantse Kumbum. This magnificent tiered structure is the largest stupa in all of Tibet. If the exquisite gold dome is not enough, this stupa is packed with Tibetan sculptures and paintings.
The drive today, only 90 km, takes us to the second largest city in Tibet. Shigatse is a laid back city that provides excellent opportunity for both relaxation and exploration. As a group we will explore the local market and the Tahilhumpo Monastery. Tahilhumpo Monastery is one of the largest functioning monasteries in Tibet and was able to last through the Cultural Revolution nearly unscathed. Day 08 DRIVE SHIGATSE [3900m] -LHATSE [4350m] 244km: The views of this desert plateau provide for wondrous entertainment as we travel along the Friendship Highway. This stretch is some of the most spectacular landscape in Tibet. After passing through the small town of Lhatse we will cross Gyatmso La, the highest pass on our journey. The land quickly descends to plains after Gyatmso La. While traveling through the plains we will see many nomadic herders, quiet countryside, and secluded monasteries. Here:You will meet Nepalese Staff for your further journey. Guest House or in the Camp
Day 09: LHATSE [4350M] TO SAGA (4200M): Driving on rugged roads sandy and rocky land of Tibet. Saga, meaning 'Happy Land', is situated along the Tsangpo River in a region cross by the upper Brahmaputra and its tributaries. Overnight in guesthouse or in tent .
Day 10: Drive to Saga (4200m) 221km / approx. 7-8 hrs. Over Night at Guesthouse or Camp: Ascend drive up to La Lung pass (5124m) then drops down before heading western part of Tibet. Road to east goes to Lhasa, capital city of Tibet. There are picture squire view of the mountain and specially Shisha Pangma (8012m) which is standing into the eyes Cross the Bhramaputra river which is one of the 4 rivers have its source near Kailash also known as Yarlung Tsangpo in the local languageand short drive to Saga.
Day 11: Drive to Paryang (4500m) 232 km / approx. 7-8 hrs. Over Night at Guesthouse or Camp: Drive through the gigantic valleys following the various rivers through the grazing lands of yaks and sheep. Enjoy the majestic views of the Tibetan Plateau and the Himalayan chain to the south, stunning views of the Snow capped mountain.
Day 12: Drive to Lake Manasarovar (4520m) 288km / approx. 9 hrs. Over Camp:
Today drive through the green pastures & Huge valley, you can see the first sighting of Mt Kailash and Lake Manasarovar by late afternoon. Drive to Thogu holiest bathing gate of Manasarovar.
Day 13: Drive to Tarchen or Tarboche (4600m) 60km Over Night at Guesthouse:
Lake Manasarovar (4500m) Lake Manasarovar is regarded as the most holy lake, It is said that a ritual bath in Manasarover kills the sins of a lifetime from Hindus & Buddhist legendary. According to Hindu and Buddhist cosmology the four great rivers of the Indian sub-continent, the Brahmaputra, Sutlej, Ganges, and Indus all arise from the lake. It is also said that Lord Vishnu floated in it for an eternity, dreaming, until the life force stirred, and out of the water’s infinite potential sprang forth all of creation. The scenic view of great lake Manasarover with mt. Gurula Mandhata (7728m) on south and Holy Kailash on the north gives feeling that you are on the top of the heaven. Enter ancient caves and enjoy the place of RISHIS and YOGIS. According to ancient scriptures the lake is created from the mind of the Hindu deity BRAHMA. The lake is a gift for yogis who do penance here. Drive to Tarchen via Chiu monastery and hot spring.
Day 14: Start Trekking Around Kailash from Tarchen, Trek to Dehera Puk (camp): From Tarchen first prostration point, Tarboche Flag pole the auspicious gateway and sky burial ground, trek to Dehera at Puk at 4765 Meters along the beautiful rocky cliffs & water falls, great view of Mt: Kailash can be seen from Dehera Puk. Total time for hiking is approx.7 hours for 15 km.
Day 15: Trek to Zuthul Puk (4790 meters/ 18kms- trek 8 hrs).Camp. This is one of the real highlights & hardest day of the tour. Hike for today is not part of the actual Kora and only possible for physically very fit people. You will cross through a rocky expanse dotted with stone cairns draped with the clothes offered by pilgrims as a spiritual sign of death. Gaurikunda is one of the holiest sites to view from the top which is ", the bathtub of Parvati the wife of Lord Shiva. Further accent hiking brings to the Top of Dolma-La pass (5630m). Dorma La is the highest point of the tour, Steep Descend to the campsite near the monastery at Zuthul Puk.
Day 16: Trek to Tarchen and drive to Manasarovar Over Night at Camp: Trek to Tangsar & Drive to Mansarovar lake, camp.
Day 17: Drive back to Paryang (288km) 8-9 hr.
Day 18: Drive Back to Saga (232km) 7-8 hrs
Day 19: Drive Back to Nyalam: (221km) 6-7 hr. Drive back, Leave Tingri and cross Lalung La and Shung La, two more incredible passes. The views from thee passes are breathtaking once again. While standing on these passes one is surrounded by grandiose mountains such as Shishpangma, Cho Oyu, Gauri Shankar, and more.
Day 20: Nyalam to Kathmandu(1310m) 156kms: Begin descending from the arid Tibetan plateau to the small town of Zhangmu, Drive downhill from Zhangmu to The Friendship Bridge where transportation awaits for the group and head to the Nepalese border. The Friendship Bridge lies at the Border of China and Nepal and is only a few kilometers from Zhangmu. It spans the impressive Bhote Koshi River. Our Tibetan guide and driver will go back at this point. Our Nepalese staff with comes together back to kathmandu, The city of Kathmandu, lies only five hours to the south. Transfer to the Hotel, overnight.
Day 21: Departure: Breakfast, Transfer to airport for your onward flight, Good bye & Happy Journey!!!
