Itinerary

Day 01 Kathmandu (1310m): Arrive in kathmandu airport, our representative will meet you and transfer to the Hotel. It is 7km and takes about 30 minutes. Our tour leader will brief the group about the trip during the pre-departure meeting in the Hotel. The briefing will cover according by the itinerary.
Passport to be collected for Tibet Visas. Return flight tickets for reconfirmation. Travel insurance to be checked. Tour voucher to be collected

Day 02 Kathmandu. Breakfast: City tour in kathmandu, Buddhanath, Pashupatinath, Patan Durbar Squire, Syambhunath. Overnight at Hotel, KTM

Day 03 FLY KATHMANDU [1310m] LHASA [3660m]: In the morning we will meet & transfer to the Kathmandu airport for the spectacular hour long flight to Lhasa. A China Southwest Airlines Boeing will fly us over much of the magnificent Himalayan range providing us with mountain views the entire way. Once landed at Gongar airport our Tibetan guide will meet you. We must travel two to 2 & half hours (90 km) by Land cruisers to reach the actual city of Lhasa. O/N at Hotel New Mandala (3*) or similar

Day 04 IN LHASA:
Our Tibetan guide will lead you through several of Lhasa’s many monasteries. The first one we will visit is Sera Monastery, a fifteenth century sprawl of golden roofs and whitewashed walls. This well preserved monastery is located just a few miles North of Lhasa and is home to several hundred monks. In the afternoon we will visit the summer palace of the Dalai Lama, Norbulingka, as well as the Jokhang Temple. This temple is the most revered shrine in all of Tibet and is constantly bustling with devout worshippers. We will also be given the opportunity to shop in Barkor, the crowded central market of Lhasa.

Day 05 IN LHASA: A trip to Tibet would not be complete without experiencing the vital Potala Palace. This palace is Lhasa's cardinal landmark and is a wonder of Eastern architecture. Your first sight of this massive structure will be a magical moment remembered for years to come. It has been a palace since the fifth or sixth century and was once home to the Dalai Lama. This truly amazing day will ended with a visit to the Drepung Monastery. Once the world’s largest monastery, housing 10,000 monks, Drepung monastery lies hidden in rocky ridges just beyond the city. Surprisingly much of the building was left untouched throughout the Cultural Revolution.

Day 06 DRIVE LHASA - GYANTSE [3950m] 261 km: The breathtaking view at Khamba La allows one to see all the way to the summit of Nazin Kang Sa. Truly an amazing view! While continuing westward we will travel over the Karo La, a high pass surrounded by stupendous glaciers. The rest of the day will be spent enjoying the many magnificent valleys and exquisite Tibetan villages we pass through. The day will end in the town of Gyantse. We will spend the night in a hotel in this historical city. O/N Holy Lake hotel (**) or Gyantse Hotel (**) or similar.

Day 07 DRIVE GYANTSE [3950m] - SHIGATSE [3900m] 90km: First thing in the morning we will visit Gyantse Dzong. This fort dates back to the fourteenth century and offers some of the most amazing views of Gyantse and the surrounding valley. Before leaving we will also visit the famed Gyantse Kumbum. This magnificent tiered structure is the largest stupa in all of Tibet. If the exquisite gold dome is not enough, this stupa is packed with Tibetan sculptures and paintings.

The drive today, only 90 km, takes us to the second largest city in Tibet. Shigatse is a laid back city that provides excellent opportunity for both relaxation and exploration. As a group we will explore the local market and the Tahilhumpo Monastery. Tahilhumpo Monastery is one of the largest functioning monasteries in Tibet and was able to last through the Cultural Revolution nearly unscathed. It is a great pleasure to spend some time exploring the busy cobbled lanes twisting around these ancient buildings. O/N Hotel Wutse, Shenkang Hotel or Manasarover Hotel or similar

Day 08 DRIVE SHIGATSE [3900m] - SHEGAR [4050m] 244km: The views of this desert plateau provide for wondrous entertainment as we travel along the Friendship Highway. This stretch is some of the most spectacular landscape in Tibet. After passing through the small town of Lhatse we will cross Gyatmso La, the highest pass on our journey. The land quickly descends to plains after Gyatmso La. While traveling through the plains we will see many nomadic herders, quiet countryside, and secluded monasteries. O/N at Hotel Everest (English name) or similar

Day 09 DRIVE SHEGAR [4050m] - RONGBUK [4920m] 96km. Everest Base Camp Excursion (5090m.): After leaving Shegar we will travel only a short while before turning off the Friendship Highway. Our four wheel drive vehicles will takes us south towards the main Himalayan range while passing over Pang La. The view from the top of Pang La is truly stunning. One is able to see all the way from Makalu to Shishapangma. In the afternoon we will descend into the Rongbuck valley and Everest will jump quickly into view. This is your first chance to catch a glimpse of this awe-inspiring mountain.
Everest Base Camp Excursion (5090m) A 2 hr. trek from The Rongbuk Monastery will lead you to the base of the highest peak on earth - The North Face Of Mount Everest (8848m.) Or Mount Quomolangma in Tibetan. Explore the Base Camp and catch sight of the Rongbuk glacier. O/N at Everest View Hotel.

Day 10 Drive to Zhangmu: Drive back from Tingri, leave Tingri and cross Lalung La and Shung La, two more incredible passes. The views from thee passes are breathtaking once again. While standing on these passes one is surrounded by grandiose mountains such as Shishpangma, Cho Oyu, Gauri Shankar, and more. In the afternoon, drive downhill to Nyalam. Begin descending from the arid Tibetan plateau to the small town of Zhangmu O/N at Zhangmu Hotel or Xai Yuen Hotel.

Day 11 Zhangmu to Kathmandu (1310m) 123kms: Drive downhill from Zhangmu to The Friendship Bridge where transportation awaits for the group and head to the Nepalese border. The Friendship Bridge lies at the Border of China and Nepal and is only a few kilometres from Zhangmu. It spans the impressive Bhote Koshi River. Sadly we must say goodbye to our Tibetan guide and driver at this point. Our Nepalese staff will meet you at the immigration Control in Kodari and help with all the re-entry formalities. The city of Kathmandu, lies only five hours to the south. O/N at the Hotel.

Day 12: Departure: Breakfast in the hotel, Transfer to the Airport, Tour Ends!!!

Arriving in Nepal & Transfers: Please provide us with your flight arrival details in Nepal so that we can arrange a free transfer to the hotel in Kathmandu. Our Representative who will have a sign with "Unique Path Travels ", please find our Representative when you are outside the terminal hill. Pre Tour Departure Meeting:Unique Path Travels & Tours will write or inform you what time to hold the Pre Tour Departure meeting at very First day of the Tour schedule date. This meeting is held to discuss the tour itinerary & its related information’s in more detail, meet your crew and fellow passengers with our Tour Leader or Manager.

In addition, Our Tour Leader will check that all passengers have the necessary travel documents. All passengers MUST bring following Documents original or copy of them at the time of Pre Tour Meeting:

Passport: Your passport is a valuable document and you should exercise extreme care in keeping it safe. We recommend that you keep your passport on you at all times, preferably in a money belt that is worn under your clothing. We advise that you take copies of relevant pages in your passport and any visas that you may purchase in case of loss or damage. Your tour leader will require your passport details at the pre-departure meeting. Again, we recommend that you have a photocopy of your passport details, kept separate. Your passport must be valid for six months after the END of your tour, and must have one blank page for each country to be visited.

Visa Requirements: You can either processed tourist visas from any Nepalese Embassy or you can get visit visa on arrival in Nepal. Please note that; Once the visa is issued, it will not be amended, revalidated and visa fees will not be refunded. Personal cheques and credit cards are not accepted for visa fees so the Visitors need to have USD Cash, the exact amount of USD Cash for Visa Fee is more sufficient. Visitors who wanted to get tourist visa at arrival, they can obtain into following arrival points in Nepal:
Tribhubhan International Airport (TIA), Kathmandu| Kodari| Kakarbhitta|  Birgunj| Belhiya Bhairahawa | Nepalgunj |Dhangadi | Mahendranagar.

REQUIREMENTS for Visa is as following:
Valid Passport (with a validity of a minimum period of six months)
duly completed Visa application form.
Two PP size Photograph.
Visa fees easier to be paid in cash.

Visa fees at arrival points in Nepal: Visa for 15 days = $25, For 30 days = $40, For 90 days = $100.

Please also note that: Nationals of the following countries must apply for a tourist visa through Nepalese Embassies as they do not get visas on arrival at the entry points of Nepal.
Note: Nigeria | Ghana | Zimbabwe | Swaziland | Cameroon | Somalia | Liberia| Ethiopia| Iraq| Palestine and Afghanistan’s Travel Document holders (Passport holder) should apply for a tourist visa at the Nepalese Embassy.

Entry validity: The validity of visa dates is counted from the date of arrival in Nepal which is Six months from the date of issue.

Visa Extension:A tourist visa can be extended from the Department of Immigration in kathmandu and Pokhara Immigration Office for a total of 120 days. Over the course of a visa year, a tourist cannot stay in Nepal more than cumulative 150 days.

Safe Travel:

  • Do not take unnecessary valuables with you.
  • A money belt, or something similar, worn close to your body is the best way to carry passports, airline tickets, money and other Valuables.
  • DO NOT leave any valuables in ANY hotel room in Asia, please use SAFETY DEPOSIT BOXES in the Hotel. Items are left at the individual’s risk.
  • Pickpockets operate everywhere, particularly in tourist areas and in crowded markets; you must always exercise care.
  • Be aware that anything left lying around will also be liable to theft.

Vaccinations: No vaccinations are compulsory unless coming from a yellow fever infected region but we do recommend you are covered for: *diphtheria & TB, hepatitis A, *hepatitis B, *malaria, typhoid, polio and tetanus. NB* a Yellow Fever certificate is required if arriving from infected areas.

For traveling in the countryside and remote areas, immune globulin is also recommended to combat hepatitis A. We advise you to bring along a supply of antibiotics, an anti-diarrhea agent, and any other prescription drugs required by your current medical conditions.

Vaccination requirements are subject to change and should be confirmed before departure.

You may need additional inoculations so please contact your GP or a travel medical centre for further information. Please consult your doctor for up-to-date information and prescriptions for vaccinations, anti-malarial requirements and any reasonably foreseeable illnesses whilst traveling into Asia.

Note: Please don’t forget to do over all check up with your Doctor & get advice whether your health permit or not to go into the region.

Medical Supplies: We advise that all passengers bring along their own personal first aid kit. Below is a list of some recommended items:

Band aids/bandages, laxatives, upset stomach remedy, anti-diarrhea remedy, Panadol/Aspirin, rehydration remedy, antiseptic cream/powder, sterile dressings, any relevant course of medication such as contraceptive pills.

Currency

The official currency in Nepal is Rupee, The most commonly use symbol for Rupee is NPR or Rs. One Rupee’s is divided into 100 Paisa.  There are coins for denominations of one, two, five and ten rupees and bank notes in denominations of 1,2, 5, 10, 20, 25, 50, 100, 500 and 1000 rupees.
There is no restriction on the amount of foreign currency or travelers checks brought into Nepal.

Money Exchange:
Nepal Rastra Bank (National Bank) does set the exchange rate and listed into daily news paper & website. There are many money changer counters and Banks in the cities at where you can change your cash money. When you are changing money officially, you need to show your passport and get receipt with your identity.  The Hotels do change the money however they do have lower rate.

There are Various ATM Machines into the main cities like Kathmandu, pokhara and so on. At where you can get cash (only Nepalese Rupee) on both Visa and MasterCard’s 24 hours a day. Usually you can draw Maximum 30,000 NPR a day from your Card.

Accommodations:
We have put a lot of thought and effort into locating the most appropriate type of accommodation for each tour. It will always be clean, comfortable and of a very high standard. Accommodation for Nepal trips is in a combination of good standard tourist class hotels and Guest Houses in the Treks operated by the local people, which offer Twin Sharing accommodations, please be prepared for the common Bathrooms during the trekking.

If you wish to spend a few additional days in your start city before the departure of your tour, then we can arrange accommodation for you. On the last day of the tour we usually arrive at our final destination in the late afternoon, when the tour ends. If you would like to book accommodation for that night or even stay additional nights, we will be more than happy to arrange this for you as well. All our accommodation is carefully chosen, conveniently located, clean and comfortable.

Travel Insurance:
Travel insurance is compulsory for all Unique Path tours. All clients MUST be insured to cover personal accident, medical expenses, cancellation, curtailment and repatriation. Please Note you should check that your insurance policy is adequate for Trekking & Tours Nepal.

Tipping & Bargaining:
Tipping in Nepal is not mandatory but it is expected by the guides, porters and Tour Driver, any gratuities for good service will be gratefully accepted at the end of the tour.

Bargaining is kind of culture, especially in markets when hiring the Local Vehicles, Buying the Jewelries and Clothing.

Luggage:
Standard Domestic airline baggage restrictions apply. Usually this is 15 kg for each passengers and one small piece of carry-on luggage.

TRAVEL TIP: You might be tempted to buy a few souvenirs here and there, so leave a little room for those extra purchases!

Departure Tax:
Nepal Domestic Flight departure taxes are not included in your flight ticket, there are some departure tax apply (approx. NRS 200) for Domestic Flight.

Climate:
Nepal has got amazing variation in climate, Ranges from high mountain valleys to tropical lowland vegetation, allowing visitor to enjoy the varieties of climates. Nepal has got four climate seasons spring (March to May), summer (June to August), autumn (Sep to November) and winter (December to February).

Spring is colorful seasons but the heat gets gradually builds till the monsoon starts. The Monsoon starts from Bay of Bangle at the end of June to middle of September, We do get approx. 80% of annual rainfall in the monsoon. Autumn is known as clear sky, pleasant temperature and great atmosphere. With variation in the climate we do get different temperature in the country, Kathmandu hardly go below Zero degree Celsius at maximum coldest in the year.

Water:
You should not drink the water from the tap in Nepal because of bacteria.
You can either use water purification or buy the bottle of water. Now a day, some people are bringing their own water filter which is very impressive & useful.

Photography:
Photography is on of the important part of the holiday that carries the memory of holiday in the photos.  Please remember, we are guests in the countries through which we travel and we may sometimes inadvertently cause offence by taking photographs without first asking permission.
It is absolutely forbidden by law to take photos at any borders, as they are all active military installation.
